How to check a photographer yourself
GotAPal lists businesses from public records and does not check or vet them. Before you hire, do these checks yourself. They take a few minutes.
- Ask exactly what each visit includes, and what costs extra, before the first visit.
- Agree how often the photographer comes, what happens if a visit is missed, and how much notice either of you gives to stop.
- Ask for their public liability insurance certificate and check the dates on it.
- Agree how and when you pay, and ask for a receipt or invoice each time.
- If the photographer trades as a limited company, look it up on Companies House: check it is active and the name matches.
- Companies House: search the register: Free to search. Shows whether a limited company is active, when it was set up and who runs it.
